Sonar6 Windows

Some people, at work, when they’re imagineering, sit and stare out the window…. Sonar6 has a lovely view, looking back towards the city with a peek of Auckland’s beautiful harbor. Gorgeous on a sunny day. It made us wonder about the view from other people’s offices. Are we all so lucky?

Welcome to the first in a regular new series of ‘Sonar6 Windows’. Where we ask our customers to send us their view. The first view is of Wellington Harbour, taken from  Assurity’s offices. We talk to unhappy customers all the time. Not ours. Other company’s. That’s nothing new, but this week we’ve been hearing from a different bunch of people.

This week we’ve been talking to unhappy SuccessFactors customers who are tied into contracts – and are now facing an SAP reality. We’ve decided to help and share the Sonar6 love.

If you’re a SuccessFactors customer and don’t think an SAP future is for you, then we’re opening our doors:

If you sign a 12 month contract with Sonar6, we’ll give you Sonar6 FREE for the remainder of your SuccessFactors contract, before you start your contract with us.*

So you can give that giant the slip AND keep your accountant happy!

Belinda by a Whisker

December 6th, 2011 by Comments »

The results are in from Sonar6’s Movember challenge – and the girls have pulled through by a whisker. Hirsute Belinda Bookley has taken out her less folically able friend Jack Whiskey. Maybe it was her pilates and wheatgrass shot’s versus Jack’s more hedonistic lifestyle?

Some* of Sonar6 were really hoping for the full Sebastien Chabal – as an excuse to make small talk (petite talk?) with the hairy hero – but Belinda didn’t sprout quite enough for that. She’s sporting a more modest ‘Circus Ringleader’. So a big, huge thanks to all the wonderful people who made donations, with the money going to a great cause – Men’s Health.

Now, here’s an idea of how Belinda would have rocked a full ‘Wooky’.

What floats your boat?

Leaving aside all the political correctness and the soft pseudoscience, what really, honestly motivates you to perform better at work?

Money?

Praise from your boss?

Being the best at what you do?

We want to know what makes you tick! Check our our latest color paper and let us know…

Fast (50) times at Sonar6!

November 11th, 2011 by Comments »

Sonar6 has joined the Deloitte NZ Fast 50 for the second year in a row.

We picked up our second award at the Auckland ceremony on Wednesday night and we’re pretty stoked to have made the cut. Well done to our fantastic Sonar6 team on another good showing, and congrats to the rest of 2011′s awesome Kiwi companies (especially Powershop with its phenomenal 5280.41% growth!)

No one at Sonar6 is taking on Movember*.

We are an office of women, computer programmers and nerds (and combinations of). It’s safer we don’t participate in case something like this happens:

But it’s a great cause we’d like to get behind so we’ve enrolled Belinda Bookly and Jack Whiskey in the Movember program, on our behalf.

They’re fictional characters so we can get a little creative – the more you donate to either gummi – the more we make their facial hair grow.

And if we get a full Sebastien Chabal on either gummi, Sonar6 will match the total contribution up to $250.

If you go really nuts we may well get a full Chewbacca gummi.

So get behind a good cause and sponsor a Sonar6 gummi for Movember:

Which contender would you rather see grow a mo?

*What is Movember?

On November 1st, guys (or girls, or gummis) register at Movember.com with a clean-shaven face and then for the rest of the month, these selfless and generous men, known as Mo Bros, groom, trim and wax their way into the annals of fine moustachery to raise funds through sponsorship.

Our gummis will be supporting two of the biggest health issues men face – prostate cancer and depression

If there’s any Mo Bros out there who’d like to share their growths with us – we’d love to see!

Smurf Blue hands at HR Tech

October 11th, 2011 by Comments »

Q – How do you stand out in an exhibit hall packed with the top HR Technology vendors? AND have a little fun while doing it?

A – Sonar6 got a 15ft x 15ft cardboard box, dumped it on the floor and trucked in 450lbs of modeling clay.

People came and got their hands dirty (smurf blue) and let their inner child take over for a while.

“A huge thanks to everyone who came down and made their mark on the booth – and don’t forget to like or tag your photo on Facebook so we can send you one of our cool Sonar6 t-shirts. Oh and yes… we will have the “I heart HR Ladies” t-shirt available.”

Our favorite clay creations:

Maren Hogan’s very artistic half face:

The guy getting chased by the dog

…and Pete Weaver’s All Black (he cheated and brought his own clay)
Pete Weaver's All black try

Of course we weren’t just playing with clay – we were showing-off our newly released Sonar6 Analytics – to great feedback!  If you’re eager to see the product in action, we’ve got a bunch of webinars coming up demo-ing the new Sonar6 Analytics – Register here >>

“We’d like to add a HUGE thanks to Bill Kutik and his team from HR Executive for putting on another great show; the amazing team at Freeman – yes they came and tagged the booth too! for making the cardboard box possible; and especially to their local rep Vjalene Gorsky who organized delivery of our clay to the Childtime Learning Center in Las Vegas after the show!  See LeanHR for a great swag round up by Dwane and Teller.  Although in our opinion, nothing beats an “I Heart HR Ladies” T-shirt.

Can you MAKE people like banana bread?

September 29th, 2011 by Comments »

We spend a lot of time at Sonar6 thinking about cake. And eating cake and sometimes regretting eating so much cake. Our newest color paper – The Biggest Loser explores –

  • whether you can MAKE people do things – (like eat more or less cake)
  • and how to introduce change to change-adverse people.

And while we’re talking cake and what-not, here’s our favorite Cinnamon Banana Bread recipe:

Mush 4 really brown bananas with a fork, add 1/3 cup of melted butter, 1 egg, ½ c brown sugar, ½ cup white sugar, 1 tsp vanilla extract, ½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts, 1 tsp cinnamon, 1 tsp baking soda, pinch of salt and 1 ½ cups of flour.
Pour mixture into a buttered 4×8 inch loaf pan.
Bake for 50-60 minutes at (175°C) (350 F)

Eat slowly, don’t burn your mouth.
